The Western Wall in Jerusalem July 24th, 2010
There are hundreds of major landmarks that are in the great city of Jerusalem. People of many different faiths come to the city in search of the holy history of their faiths and to see for themselves that walls and skies that are now the whisper of ancient stories.
For the Jewish people, the Western Wall also known as the Wailing Wall is a major stop on their journey through the city. This is a ruin left standing that symbolizes the ownership over the land of Isreal and the old city. It is a wall of the first Temple built by Solomon in the 10th century B.C. It was the major center point for Jewish religious rituals. This is were the Jewish people would come from a far to practice their faith and create community. It is also a place of political and commercial practices.
Jerusalem became the capital city of the land because what was happening around the Western Wall. The Temple and the people with in became subject to invasion by the Babylonians where the Temple was torched and the people taken into exile by Nebuchadnezzar. Since the fall of the Temple, the wall is all that remains and this is were Jewish people come to the jerusalem hotels from all over the world to pray in this holy place.
