Have you been contemplating installing a steam shower in your bathroom? What’s the difference between traditional shower stalls and steam showers ? Steam showers offer the consumer a number of interesting features that go well beyond the old-fashioned stall. Today, steam showers may come equipped with acupressure and foot massage, aromatherapy, as well as a steam sauna.
The typical shower stall has four parts — a floor tray, a shower door, a side panel, and tiled or acrylic walls. As we move into the 21st Century, this type of shower is increasingly being replaced by steam showers, with far more features. Steam showers may include a whirlpool bathtub, acupressure massage , an aromatherapy and medicines steam box, a computerized LCD control display to monitor the temperature and release of steam, fluorescent mood lighting, an FM radio and audio frequency input, and a fog free mirror.
The modern steam shower may even have a hands free telephone, headrests, and high quality speaker systems. On some models, even a waterproof LCD TV and media input is possible. Clearly, showering today is not the same experience it was just a few years ago.
The traditional shower stall is often a breeding ground for mold and bacteria, largely because of the humid conditions, allowing mold spots to form on your ceiling. A steam shower, though, is fully enclosed. Most steam showers, too, have an ozone sterilization system which self cleans, killing bacteria, mold, and viruses. It allows the user to be certain of a clean experience each time she steps inside.
If you decide to upgrade to the 21st Century and a steam shower, you’ll see that these showers bring together the functions of traditional stalls with the comfort and luxury of features available with steam showering.
