Spring is the time of year when many high school seniors have to make decisions about the rest of their life. With graduation just around the corner, college acceptance — and rejection — letters begin arriving. While an acceptance may relieve the anxiety of not knowing, receiving multiple acceptance packets means that it is time for the student to make one of the first major decisions of their adult life.
Figuring out what to do with one’s life at that young age can be completely overwhelming. While some kids feel a calling to a specific vocation early on, most are still trying to figure out who they are and what they might want to do with their life. They may be struggling to figure out if that college degree is really worth tens of thousands of dollars or if they would be better off following their passion and getting a more specialized education, such as those offered at art school or golf school .
While many people may laugh at the idea of going to school for golf, there are literally millions of jobs in the burgeoning golf industry. Many are management and director level positions, offering high salaries with bonuses and the added benefit of being able to play the game as part of the job description. Golf programs offer an accredited degree in golf management that prepares students for those leadership positions as well as a slew of other professional positions in golf companies and tour organizations, at golf courses and clubs, and even in journalism , advertising, and the sport itself. In fact, many colleges and universities have begun offering similar degree programs, though they will not likely have the same industry connections and experienced instructors as the more established schools.
